Wellness

Your wellness program should include a component that builds your mental health. Mental Health America provides online and printed information about maintaining your personal mental health, and information about mental illnesses and other related issues. Stigma

The stigma of mental illness prevents people from receiving the effective treatments that are now available. MHA-Kentucky offers a panel from our board of directors who speak to community groups and audiences about the stigma of mental illness. Visit our Stigma page for more information!

Suicide Prevention

Every 16 minutes, an American takes his or her life. Suicide MHA-Kentucky is proud to be a member of the Kentucky Suicide Prevention Group. Continuing Professional Development

MHA-Kentucky has formed a collaboration among mental health agencies and professionals in the Louisville/Elizabethtown region to offer continuing professional development in evidence based practices in response to the community’s needs. Advocacy

MHA-Kentucky is part of the national network of mental health associations called Mental Health America, which advocates for mental health and treatment and research for mental illness in Washington, DC. Screenings

MHA-Kentucky provides its website visitors free access to a professionally-developed online mental health screening service.

Awards and Scholarships

Every October, MHA-Kentucky recognizes individuals and programs that have made outstanding contributions to mental health in Kentucky, and awards two scholarships to promising undergraduates.

Research

MHA-Kentucky tracks and publicizes developments in research and, through its Advocacy programs, seeks to advance research in mental health and the prevention and treatment of mental illnesses.
