MHA-Kentucky Programs
Wellness
Any wellness program should include a component that builds your mental health. Mental Health America provides an online wellness program, "Live Your Life Well." Visit our Wellness page for other ways MHA-Kentucky can help!
Stigma
The stigma of mental illness prevents people from receiving the effective treatments that are now available. MHA-Kentucky offers a panel from our board of directors who speak to community groups and audiences about the stigma of mental illness. Visit our Stigma page for more information!
Suicide Prevention
Every 16 minutes, an American takes his or her life. Suicide MHA-Kentucky is proud to be a member of the Kentucky Suicide Prevention Group. Our staff is qualified to provide the research-based suicide prevention training, QPR ("Question, Persuade, Refer"). Visit our Suicide Prevention page for more information!
Continuing Professional Development
MHA-Kentucky has formed a collaboration among mental health agencies and professionals in the Louisville/Elizabethtown region to offer continuing professional development in evidence-based practices in response to the community's needs. Visit our Continuing Professional Development page for more information!
Advocacy
MHA-Kentucky advocates at local, state, and federal forums for access to excellent mental health services when people need them, and for wellness and prevention programs for everyone. Our staff and members of our board represent the association's views in public forums, meetings, and the press.
Our E-newsletter, "Mental Health Matters," tracks important issues and events so you can advocate, too. Subscribe here.
We don't work alone. We're the Kentucky affiliate of the national network of mental health associations called Mental Health America, which works with the US Congress and sponsors an Advocacy Network you can join. At the state level, MHA-Kentucky is a member of the Kentucky Mental Health Coalition, which advocates with the Executive Branch and the Kentucky General Assembly on mental health issues.
Screenings
MHA-Kentucky provides its website visitors free access to a professionally-developed online mental health screening service.
